In general terms, VA will not associate your exposure to any chemical substances to a condition without substantial evidence.
You must prove by evidence that the exposure to a given substance is the cause of the condition.
This is often accomplished by the provision of a "nexus letter". The nexus letter is a document that provides a causality link between an event (exposure to chemicals) and a subsequent outcome (a disabling condition).
Such a document must come from an expert. The document must clearly state that the event is more likely than not the cause of the condition.
The expert must be credentialed and have the ability to show that by education, training and experience, his or her testimony should be given significant consideration in any decision.
Such an expert is often a physician who is certified in the specialty of the condition concerned.
